About the Founder

Tim Smith

Founder, Logos Touring

Greetings fellow traveler! A little about myself to better understand Logos Touring…

I have roots in a few places, including the Pacific Northwest (Seattle, WA), the Caribbean (Haiti), and the Midwest (the great state of MN!) where I spent significant formative years. With a collegiate family history in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, I attended St. Olaf College for my BA, earning a degree in History. The subject captivated me such that I followed it with an MA in History from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire.

For the ensuing years I lived and worked in historic locales, both domestic and international. But it was a fateful trip to Washington, D.C. that introduced me to the sphere of educational travel — a sphere devoted to connecting people to travel and animating history. The monuments, memorials, historic grounds, the educators, the educated — it all captivated me. I learned, in part, that the world is a book and every destination visited is another exciting chapter. And so, after working in various forms of education and coaching for years, I transitioned to this captivating world of educational travel in 2015. In my time over the last decade plus in the industry, I am grateful for the full spectrum of experience gained: tour guiding, logistics, operations, management, all in the pursuit of connecting people to places and history that enrich lives.

With this background I started Logos Touring, to help connect people to this "book" we know as our world, and all its glorious chapters.

Currently I reside in historic Charleston, SC, "The Holy City," with my beautiful wife and my two adored daughters. We home-school, enjoy the natural beauty of the Lowcountry, engage in our community, and connect ourselves to this "book" as often as possible.

Gratefully,
Timothy Smith
